College
Planning Services and Policies
WPS students will be directly
assisted with the college planning process during their junior and senior years
at WPS. Students should begin planning for college with challenging high school
course enrollment, serious attention to academic performance and quality
extracurricular involvement.
Testing
As part of their college
readiness preparation students at WPS are administered the PSAT in 9th and 10th grades. In 11th grade they take the PSAT again
where scores are eligible for National Merit Scholarships. The PSAT is
administered in October at WPS and students are registered by the school.
Students are encouraged to take
the College Board SAT and ACT early in the second semester of their junior
year. Students must self register for these tests. Subject area SAT’s (formerly
SAT II) are also required by many colleges and students typically register to
take relevant subject area tests in May of their junior year.
Students enrolled in Advanced Placement
(AP) courses will be enrolled to take a College Board AP Test at WPS in early
May. More specific info on course testing will be provided to students and
parents by the Director of College Planning during the school year.
Academic
and Behavior Record Policies
In accordance with NACAC
(National Association of College and Admissions Counselors) guidelines, WPS
reports all high school grades and major behavior infractions to colleges when
asked for this information.
College
Applications
Seniors will be assisted with the college application process which
includes general advising and essay editing. Windermere Preparatory School
does not report college test scores directly to schools; this is the
responsibility of the individual student.
EdLine
All college planning events and
additional forms, links and policies will be posted on EdLine.
