Windermere Prep Second Graders Explore Publishing World


Jordan Lomas, Vice President of Customer Management Systems, is assisted in giving his publishing lecture by and his wife Ann. Their second grade daughter is Elizabeth Lomas.

Windermere Prep School second graders recently took an in-depth look at the world of publishing. A WPS parent, Jordan Lomas, who works for Elsevier, the sister company to publishing giant Harcourt, gave a book publishing presentation to the students. Students were able to learn about different types of publishing besides book publishing. They were also acquainted with some of the many different languages that books can be published in. Students also saw original artwork and photographs and the process they undergo to appear as the images we see in print. They were able to see the variety of processes that it takes to publish books such as storyboards, thumbnails, and the metal plates the books are first printed on.
