Grader Takes Windermere Prep Geography Honors
Windermere
Prep Seventh Grader Lucas Casas was recently named school
champion in the 19th annual National Geographic Bee.

who qualified to compete in the Geography Bee by scoring
high on the WPS National Geographic School Qualifying

A round robin
contest of those who qualified determined the grade-level
champions and ultimately the school champion. Grade
champions were: Reed Shankweiler, Grade 4; Andrew Kane
and Samantha Mayfield Grade 5; Bryce King Grade 6; Lucas
Casas Grade 7; and Chris Carpentier, Grade 8.
Casas
will now move up to the next level of competition –
a written examination to determine state qualifiers.
All of the school Champions are eligible to win a $25,000
college scholarship, at the national competition On
May 22 and 23, 2007 in Washington D.C.
