Prep Breaks Ground on Gym
Windermere
Preparatory School recently held a ground breaking ceremony
to launch the construction of the first phase of its
new gymnasium. Students and parents joined together
for a family picnic on campus to celebrate. The approximately
20,000 square foot building is expected to cost more
than $3 million, and be complete in March.
“This
is a great day for WPS,” said Athletic Director
Tom Raymond. “It shows the commitment to grow
by our owners and I am looking forward to scheduling
home games and matches next year.”
To honor
the event, Raymond, Headmaster Donna Montague-Russell,
Admission Director Carol Riggs, Physical Education Teacher
Ken Ratcliffe III, and Pertree Constructors, Inc. Project
Manager Doug Ross also took the time to bury a time
capsule outside what will be the entrance to the gym.
Each current WPS class submitted items that were put
in the capsule. A plaque will mark the spot with instructions
to open it when the current PreK3 class graduates in
2021.
