The Windermere Preparatory High School Program

The WPS High School has been designed to prepare students for college, graduate school and their adult years. The courses are therefore rigorous, challenging and involving, with all core classes designed to prepare our students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. All classes are focused on specific subject matter to allow for in-depth learning, with reading and research being a regular mainstay in the classroom and at home. Students will have options to select various classes and programs that both meet their needs and position them well for college placement.

Fine arts and physical education classes are also required, as well as participation in school-wide community service days and completion of required community service hours. We have two resources to facilitate students in their academic and college pursuits. Our David Hicks IB Library is dedicated to creating location where research and study can occur away from the active atmosphere of our high school. We also have a College Planning area in the High School Offices dedicated to materials specific to college planning and surrounded by members of administration best suited to the important task of aiding students in their selection of a college.

After completing basic requirements in the 9th and 10th grade, students will enter the IBDP program of studies. To prepare for college, students also prepare for the SAT and ACT college entrance exams as they study liberal arts electives and advanced courses in technology. Our college counselor ensures that every student has current records and knowledge about scholarships and the application processes. Graduation exercises highlight the transition to adulthood and celebrate the rigorous curriculum each student has mastered.
