Form III consists of the freshman
and sophomore high school grades and recognizes this important
transition. The curriculum is designed to prepare students
for college, graduate school and their adult years. The courses
are therefore rigorous, challenging and involving, with all
core classes assigned Honors or Advanced Placement objectives
and weighting. All classes in this form are focused on specific
subject matter to allow for in-depth learning, with reading
and research being a regular mainstay in the classroom and
at home. In addition, liberal arts classes offer students
an opportunity to practice their skills in semester long courses
that cut across the curriculum. Fine arts and physical education
classes are also required. All Form III students serve as
mentors to Lower Form students, as they are guest speakers
and assistant teachers in those classes. They participate
in school-wide community service days, and they complete community
service hours on their own.
